Equality in Schools
At the GPP Federation, we celebrate difference and teach children that no person is the same, but that we all have the right to be treated equally. We give children the skills and knowledge to be able to voice their concerns if they are not being treated equally. Through our Personal, Social and Health Education lessons, through the adults modelling equality and through our peer role models we demonstrate our ethos. We actively promote equality through our resources, our school values, our promotion of British values and our school environment.
We do not accept any inequality but we are realistic that there will be incidents within school and on the playground and we actively work to alleviate the affects of inequality, learn from it and put in measures to prevent it happening again. We diligently foster good relations between all children within our school, no matter their sex, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation or gender assignment.
As a school, we are conscious that we are creating the community of the future as well as influencers on the current community. We want our school to contribute to the community and ensure that there are excellent relations between our students and staff with the wider environment.

Public Sector Equality Duty
The Public sector equality duty came into force in April 2011 (s.149 of the Equality Act 2010) and public authorities are now required, in carrying out their functions, to have due regard to the need to achieve the objectives set out under s149 of the Equality Act 2010 to:
(a) eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under the Equality Act 2010;
(b) advance equality of opportunity between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it;
(c) foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.
As a school we strive to ensure equality in all that we do. Discrimination is not tolerated in any form and is challenged at all levels. The curriculum provided for the children and values instilled throughout school life and modelled by staff are underpinned by our desire to ensure equality. All staff and children have equal access to opportunities and provision in all elements of school life.
Where appropriate, all stakeholders are involved in decision making to ensure all views are taken into account.
Furthermore, in recruitment the school follows safer recruitment practice and always seeks to employ the best staff available using clear job descriptions, person specifications and a robust interview process.
