Picklenash Junior School

Picklenash Junior School

GPP Federation

Welcome

Picklenash Junior School is one part of the successful GPP Federation. Picklenash provides quality primary education to pupils in Years 3-6 and prides itself on the caring and nurturing ethos that is firmly embedded there.

The school site is shared with Glebe Infants and has established a welcoming and inclusive environment with firmly embedded whole school values.

Our school vision, which was written in collaboration with our children, states that we: Prepare, Progress, Prevail.

All of our staff are dedicated to ensuring that children are ‘Prepared’ for their next steps both academically and socially; ‘Progress’ to meet their full potential and ‘Prevail’ against the challenges and barriers that they might face along the way. With this in mind you can be assured that your child will have the support, care and challenge needed, in an enriching, engaging and exciting environment, to reach their full potential.

The site boasts extensive facilities including a large outdoor area and well established Forest School area that is used by all year groups regularly.

Children within the school benefit from our outstanding pastoral and special needs team that work closely with staff and parents to provide focused attention in meeting individual needs. This is an area that we place great emphasis on.

Being part of the only primary provider within the town of Newent we are proud of our relationship with the local community and we work hard to ensure that strong links are made with local organisations. Many of these links are able to provide our children with unique opportunities and experiences that add breadth and balance to our curriculum.

As staff, we are passionate about developing a love for learning and working together to ensure everyone achieves to the very best of their ability. Our curriculum is carefully structured to inspire children and provide opportunities for them to discover and learn in fun and engaging ways. As well as focusing on the key academic areas in school we recognise the need to develop the whole child and as such look to provide a range of opportunities that prepare children for the next steps in the educational journey and life in general.

Picklenash Junior school is proud to have been adjudged ‘Good’ by OFSTED in the academic year 2019/20 and our committed staff continue to strive for further improvement.

Ethos and Values

Our six core values underpin everything that we do in school. They are fundamental to ensure children are able to achieve their very best in a safe and supportive environment. Each term one value is in focus and teachers look for examples of children displaying this within the school.  Children then have a chance of receiving a value wristband in our weekly Celebration Assembly; the objective being to collect all six values over the course of their school career.

Ofsted & Parent View

Parent View is the Ofsted website where parents can share their opinions on how effective the provision is for their child.  The survey can be completed at any time; you don’t have to wait until the school is being inspected.
